中西 進氏は国内に現存する最古の歌集である万葉集研究の第一人者です
日本の和暦「令和」の考案者であると言われていますが、本人は肯定も否定もしません
89歳にして、精力的に執筆活動を行う彼のスタイルは、PCもワープロも使わず、鉛筆で下書きをし、万年筆で清書するというスタイル
擦り切れた鉛筆を捨てずに持っておくというところに彼の人柄が現れています
一般の方に万葉集の講演をユニークな観点からおこなったり、万葉集のゆかりの地を訪れるのが彼のラーフワーク
万葉集のファンとの集いは40年以上続いているそうです
彼曰く、万葉集は他の歌集よりも生命力が溢れているとか
学問の象徴であるフクロウを好む彼は、いまだに何も分かっていないといいます
そこに、学問の第一人者となった所以があるように感じました
Mr.Nakanishi is the leading researcher of Manyousyu which is the oldest collection of Japanese poetry. He is called the deviser of New Japanese calender ‘Reiwa’,but he does not both agree and disagree.
In spite of his old age,he is writing books energetically without use of PC.He always makes a draft by pencil and fair copy by fountain pen.He stock peeling pens he used.That discloses his character.
His lifeworks are lecture of Manyoushu for general people from the unique viewpoints and going to the place related with Manyoushu.The gathering with avid fun of the collection is lasting for over 40 years.He says that Manyoushu is filled with power of life than following poetry collections.
He likes owl which is the symbol of study, and says he know nothing about his field.
The intellectual spirit is the origin of the leading scholar.
